Deputyship

When a loved one loses mental capacity to make decisions for themselves, family members are often faced with urgent and complex choices concerning personal welfare, medical care, and financial management. • Applying to Court under both the simplified and standard process for the appointment of a deputy to make decisions on behalf of the person who lacks mental capacity;  

• Advising on the scope of a deputy’s powers to manage the patient’s property, financial affairs, and personal welfare; and 

• Acting in disputes among family members regarding the appointment / removal / replacement of a deputy, and the exercise of the deputy’s powers.
