Corporate Social Responsibility

"Justice must be accessible to all, not just to those who can afford it."
Mr Harry Elias SC, on the founding of the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (CLAS)

At Harry Elias Partnership, corporate social responsibility is an enduring part of our identity.

From pro-bono to community legal education, we are committed to contributing meaningfully to the profession and to society.

Our commitment to pro bono work dates back to 1985, when our founder, the late Mr Harry Elias SC, played a central role in establishing the Law Society's Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (CLAS).

He personally led early cases and mobilised support to ensure access to justice for those in need.

That spirit continues to guide us today. We were the first law firm in Singapore to partner with Law Society Pro Bono Services and to pledge a minimum of 25 pro bono hours per lawyer annually - setting a structured and purposeful approach to legal volunteerism.

Mr Elias' belief in equal access to justice continues to shape the Firm's pro bono ethos and commitment to community service.

We actively support legal education across Singapore - from junior college students to law undergraduates and business professionals.

Our collaboration with the Singapore Mediation Centre led to the launch of Singapore's first public lecture series on international commercial mediation, aimed at raising awareness among local businesses.

We also maintain a long-standing partnership with Singapore Management University, sponsoring moot competitions and academic prizes in areas such as Negotiation and Mediation, and Family Law.
