In the financial sector, Ming Wai advises banks and lenders on disputes involving loan agreements, guarantees, and security enforcement. She regularly acts in insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings, including moratorium applications and pursuing recovery through litigation, liquidation, and enforcement.

 

She has also advised institutional and individual landlords in the recovery of rental arrears and enforcement of tenancy obligations, including court actions involving garnishee orders, writs of seizure and sale, and insolvency applications. In the real estate and strata management space, she has acted for MCSTs and developers in disputes with proprietors concerning use of private outdoor spaces and building defects.

She has represented individuals in probate, estate and trust disputes, and intra-family asset recovery.   • Represented a Chinese state-owned enterprise in a high-value ICC arbitration against a Hong Kong company, involving multimillion-dollar disputes over the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles, with proceedings seated in Singapore.
  • Successfully secured the striking out of a claim involving novel issues relating to locus standi and cash cheques under the Bills of Exchange Act ([2023] SGDC 105).
  • Acted for high-net-worth individuals in significant trust litigation valued in the millions, navigating sensitive familial disputes with strategic precision.
  • Represented a Management Corporation Strata Title (MCST) before the Strata Titles Boards in a dispute concerning the installation of fixed awnings over private outdoor spaces ([2023] SGSTB 2).
  • Successfully represented financial institutions and institutional landlords in contested moratorium applications, safeguarding creditor rights in landmark decisions ([2023] 5 SLR 1421; [2024] SGHC 156).
