Rajiv is a Senior Associate in the Construction and Engineering Practice Group. He has acted in various commercial disputes, with a focus on contentious and non-contentious aspects of construction, infrastructure and energy matters.

 

Prior to joining Harry Elias Partnership LLP, Rajiv practised in a top-tier commercial disputes boutique under eminent Senior Counsel, where he focused on international arbitration and cross-border litigation. Rajiv has also practised as an Australian-qualified solicitor at a leading construction and infrastructure law firm in Melbourne, where he conducted large-scale arbitrations and advised clients regarding public infrastructure projects across Australia.

Experience

  • Represented a Project Company under a Public-Private Partnership in A$1 billion tripartite ACICA arbitration proceedings relating to a public hospital project in South Australia, which was the most expensive building in Australia;

 

  • Successfully represented a leading Indian engineering company in an SIAC arbitration against a Japanese-listed EPCI contractor concerning a US$2 billion FPSO facility in the Gulf of Mexico, involving highly complex and technical issues regarding detailed engineering of topside modules;

 

  • Successfully resisted an application before the Singapore International Commercial Court to set aside a US$330 million investor-State ECT arbitration award, marking the first time that the Singapore courts considered the Intra-EU Objection in investor-State arbitrations under the Energy Charter Treaty (DNZ v DOA [2026] SGHC(I) 1);

 

  • Defended a listed Japanese global engineering MNC in an SIAC arbitration against claims in relation to an RM166 million EPCIC contract for an LNG Regasification Terminal in Malaysia;

 

  • Represented the founder of an ultra-luxury resort chain in the Maldives in a US$300 million dispute against a global private equity fund, which is believed to be one of the first cases commenced in the Singapore International Commercial Court pursuant to an agreed jurisdiction clause; and

 

  • Successfully represented the founders of a regional fin-tech business in a US$183 million SIAC arbitration and in setting-aside proceedings in the Singapore International Commercial Court regarding claims of minority oppression and malicious falsehood (DPT v DPV [2025] SGHC(I) 29).
