Annette has extensive experience in litigation strategy and complex family law disputes in Singapore. She approaches her practice with empathy and is committed to delivering clear, practical, and outcome-oriented legal solutions tailored to her clients’ needs.

 

She has acted for individuals, banks, and companies before the Singapore Courts, as well as in both local and international arbitration proceedings. In addition to contentious family and matrimonial matters, Annette has advised clients on a wide range of non-contentious family law issues, including simplified divorce proceedings, deeds of separation, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, and the drafting of Wills. She has assisted clients with probate applications and applications for letters of administration.

 

In her broader legal practice, Annette has acted in a variety of commercial matters, including complex intellectual property disputes involving patents and copyright, as well as matters relating to commercial law, bankruptcy and insolvency, employment, and construction matters.

 

Annette also has a strong interest in international and refugee law. Prior to her admission as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore, she worked for approximately 2 years at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). She also served as a researcher to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons, where she contributed to thematic reports presented to the United Nations Human Rights Council and the United Nations General Assembly.

Experience

  • Acted for an Indonesian wife in child relocation proceedings and an application for a stay of execution of judgment, both of the above in the case of XBE v. XBF [2024] SGFC 67.
  • Advised and acted in complex matrimonial proceedings involving substantial family assets exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars.
  • Represented clients in variation applications, including those relating to care and control and maintenance orders, and successfully defended related set-aside proceedings.
  • Handled personal protection order (PPO) matters, including securing a PPO of indefinite duration on behalf of a managing director of a bank.
  • Acted in committal proceedings and enforcement-related applications, including those arising from breaches of court orders.
  • Advised and represented clients in interlocutory proceedings, including discovery, interrogatories, and variation of ancillary orders concerning CPF monies.
  • Handled cross-border family law matters, including interim custody, care and control, relocation applications, international child abduction issues, Hague Convention proceedings, and injunctions to prevent the removal of children from Singapore.
