Harry Elias Partnership LLP successfully represented the Mother in obtaining $634k in backdated maintenance against the Father, in XWN v XWO [2025] SGFC 142

The Father quit his high-paying job in Singapore and moved back to his home country after his estranged wife applied for maintenance for herself and their four children.

The Court held that: “The responsible thing for the father to do would have been to take steps to secure a new role that would have enabled him to provide an appropriate level of financial support for his family before resigning from the Singapore employer.”

The Court ordered that the Father pay backdated maintenance of SGD 633,916.19 for the period of September 2023 to September 2025 as well as prospective maintenance of SGD 23,500 / month with effect from October 2025.

Partner Clement Yap led the matter, assisted by Associate Jasmine Chang
