Cedric is our Associate in the firm's Litigation Practice Group and Corporate and Commercial Practice Group.

 

Cedric is a Government of Brunei scholar with an LLB (Hons) from Keele University, United Kingdom. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales (Inner Temple) in 2019 after completing the Bar Professional Training Course at Cardiff University, United Kingdom.

 

Since being admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam in 2021. Cedric's experience has encompassed corporate and commercial litigation, matrimonial and family disputes, contractual claims, insolvency proceedings, debt recovery, and the winding-up and liquidation of companies. He has handled a wide range of interlocutory applications, including but not limited to summary judgment, striking out, Prohibitory Order, discovery, Security for Costs, Stay of Proceedings, Reinstatement of discontinued suits and applications for leave to enter judgment in default.

 

In addition to his litigation work, Cedric advises on matters relating to trademark registration and company incorporation, offering clients comprehensive legal support in both contentious and non-contentious matters.

 

Since joining HEP Law in 2025, Cedric has assisted with various civil and commercial litigation matters and debt recovery, as well as a wide range of corporate matters including drafting and reviewing legal documents and contracts, legal due diligence exercises, regulatory and compliance, and general advisory services for the firm’s local and international clients.

Experience

  • Represented a local construction company in a dispute concerning defects that emerged after the completion of its building, advising on contractual obligations, assessing liability for rectification costs, and developing strategies for potential settlement or dispute resolution.
  • Successfully obtained a Prohibitory Order on behalf of a local client, restraining the debtor from transferring multiple properties and securing the client's assets pending the resolution of debt recovery proceedings.
  • Represented an international client company in a dispute regarding charter hire of a vessel, providing guidance on arbitration jurisdiction and contractual rights and obligations.
  • Advised a Malaysian oil and gas company on a potential acquisition of a Bruneian company operating a Marine Maintenance and Decommissioning Yard, conducting comprehensive due diligence, identifying key legal and financial risks, and preparing a detailed red flags report to guide the client’s investment decision.
  • Provided legal representation for seven Defendants in a nationwide fuel smuggling case, advising on allegations, procedural matters, potential penalties, and supporting the clients through all stages of investigation and court proceedings.
