Aziemah is a Senior Associate in the firm’s Corporate and Commercial Practice Group. She graduated with an LLB (Hons) from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom in 2016 and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2017 at Lincoln’s Inn after completing the Bar Professional Training Course at London City Law School.
Aziemah began her Pupillage with Messrs. Rudi Lee, Annie Kon and Associates in 2018 and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam in 2019. During her seven-year tenure at the firm, she developed a strong specialisation in litigation matters, focusing on areas such a construction disputes arising from private development projects, commercial contract disputes, personal injuries, insurance claims, and corporate and personal insolvency.
Over the years, Aziemah has gained extensive experience in settlement negotiations, taxation matters, and interlocutory applications, including successfully obtaining and resisting default judgments, summary judgments, and Order 21 applications (including reinstatement claims). She has also appeared as lead counsel in trials before the Intermediate Court, High Court, and Court of Appeal, representing clients in complex legal matters before visiting judges.
Aziemah joined HEP Law to expand her practice into corporate and commercial law, building on her litigation background to broaden her expertise in these areas.

Experience
- Eight years’ experience in the legal industry, including seven years in active legal practice, with a focus on civil and criminal litigation.
- Represented a broad range of clients across various industries, including private companies, shareholders, directors, and private individuals.
- Appeared before Brunei’s Intermediate Court and High Court as lead counsel, advocating for clients before both local and foreign visiting judges, including the Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court, Justice Edward Timothy Starbuck Wooley, in relation to a land development dispute.
- Appeared before Brunei’s Court of Appeal as lead counsel, advocating before the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam and President of the Court of Appeal, the Honourable Dato Seri Paduka Steven Chong Wan Oon, together with Judicial Commissioners of the Court of Appeal, including Justice Michael Victor Lunn, Justice Sir Peter Gross, and Justice Edward Timothy Starbuck Wooley, on a precedential issue concerning the setting aside of a default judgment.
- Previously led the insurance claims and personal injury practice at Messrs. Rudi Lee, Annie Kon & Associates, with demonstrated experience in coordinating and liaising with clients and opposing counsel to facilitate the efficient resolution of complex matters.
- Represented defendants in a wide range of criminal matters, including offences involving arson, theft, overstaying, assault, and sexual offences, advising clients throughout all stages of investigation and court proceedings, including bail and mitigation applications.
- Conducted settlement negotiations and drafted agreements to safeguard clients’ interests in complex construction disputes and settlement matters.
