Ming Hao is an Of Counsel in the Construction and Engineering Practice Group. He’s a disputes lawyer, with a focus on infrastructure, engineering and construction related disputes arising from projects in Singapore and in the region.
He has acted for developers, contractors, architects and engineers in a broad range of matters, including but not limited to arbitrations (under ICC, SIAC, VIAC, BANI, HKIAC, UNCITRAL, SIA, as well as ad hoc rules), court proceedings before all levels of the Singapore Courts, dispute board proceedings, mediations, negotiations and adjudication proceedings under Singapore’s Building and Construction Industry Security of Payments Act.
His recent experience includes:
- Acted for the owner and operator of a Mongolian greenfield cement plant in an ICC arbitration against a Chinese contractor in respect of defects in the structure and foundations of the plant.
- Acted for an oil major in a BANI arbitration against an Indonesian contractor consortium concerning the final account for the construction of an onshore production facility.
- Acted for a consortium of Korean and Japanese contractors in a Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) arbitration against a state-owned entity in relation to a major rail project in Vietnam.
- Acted for another consortium of Korean and Italian contractors in a series of dispute adjudication board proceedings against a state-owned entity, in relation to another major rail project in Vietnam.
- Acted for a Dutch subcontractor in its dispute with Luxemburg based main contractor over the installation of jackets and associated pin-piles for a Taiwanese wind farm project.
- Advised a consortium of Japanese and Korean contractors on a contemplated arbitration against a state-owned entity concerning the construction of offshore turbine island facilities and onshore coal-fired power plants in Indonesia
- Acted for a Singapore company in an ICC arbitration in respect of disputes over the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of a solid waste management facility in Qatar.
- Acted for a Singapore property development group in Singapore High Court proceedings and arbitration against the main contractor in relation to disputes over the construction of a condominium along Orchard Road, Singapore.
Ming Hao graduated with First Class (Honours) from King’s College London, and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2014.
