Suressh is a Partner and Head of International Arbitration and Compliance Practice Groups.
His main area of practice is in commercial litigation, in particular, corporate and shareholder disputes, misfeasance by company officers, international transactions and employment.
Some of the cases he has been involved in include acting for the Republic of Philippines in its recovery in Singapore of monies amounting to nearly US$30 million plundered by former President Marcos. This case dealt inter alia with state immunity, as well as issues relating to Philippines, Swiss and Hawaiian/ US law and their applicability to the proceedings in Singapore. He acted for the private equity fund Schroder Venture Asia Pacific Fund in respect of a dispute relating to its investments of over US$100 million in Aman Resorts.
In the area of employment law, Suressh has successfully acted for both employers and employees in actions involving restrictive covenants in employment contracts, including one of the leading Singapore decisions in this area, Stratech v Nyam Chiu Shin. He regularly advises on retrenchment and trade union related matters.
He advises on compliance issues, in particular relating to money laundering, competition and data protection. He represented an international freight forwarding group in connection with investigations by the Competition Commission of Singapore ("CCCS") into rate fixing and acted for one of the parties in the investigation by CCCS into price fixing/cartel activity relating to fresh chicken distribution.
Suressh was part of the team advising on the successful bid by Las Vegas Sands Corp for the Marina Bay Integrated Resort. He acted for Marina Bay Sands in their successful action against Lester Ong, the first trial of a Singapore casino recovering a casino debt from a customer.
