Chan Wai Chong

Wai Chong is a Partner in the Banking and Finance Practice Group. He is an experienced practitioner of more than 20 years and has been representing banks, financial institutions, and corporate entities in cross-border and domestic transactions. He advises on distressed debt transactions, debt restructuring, and a wide range of real estate transactions for multi-national companies, housing developers, hoteliers, government bodies, and statutory boards.

Wai Chong handles acquisition finance, asset finance and project finance. His practice covers Jurong Town Corporation industrial properties, commercial properties, and residential properties. He regularly advises commercial landlords on various landlord and tenant issues.

• Acted for a leading European childcare operator in a cross-border transaction involving credit facilities granted by a conglomerate of financiers under various bond issuance agreements. Wai Chong advised the client on various issues including the securitisation of assets and negotiated on the terms of the securities.
• Acted for a US based funds group in another cross-border transaction in their US$600m loan facilities from Deutsche Bank AG. Wai Chong acted as Singapore counsel for the client and negotiated the security package required by the lender.
• Acted for a Singapore based special purpose vehicle in the sale of a shopping complex in a transaction valued at S$550m.
