Our Congratulations to Mr Harry Elias on being awarded The Public Service Medal 2013

Please join us in congratulating Mr Harry Elias on being awarded The Public Service Medal 2013 (Pingat Bakti Masyarakat) for this year's Singapore National Day Awards.

The Public Service Medal which was instituted in 1973 may be awarded to any person who has rendered commendable public service in Singapore or for his achievement in the field of arts and letters, sports, the sciences, business, the professions and the labour movement.

Mr Elias was awarded the medal in recognition for his contributions he made as a former member of the Singapore Academy of Law Senate, Singapore Academy of Law.

"I am humbled and deeply honoured" said Mr Harry Elias, Senior Counsel, on receiving the medal.

One of the key contributions he has made to Singapore was the establishment of the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme in 1985 which has enabled thousands of people to obtain legal representation otherwise beyond their means.
