Kennedy equates client success to personal success, and is an astute, reliable problem solver equipped to provide a complete spectrum of corporate and commercial solutions in addition to legal solutions for many industries. A practitioner of the Corporate and Finance group, he has advised stakeholders from Singapore, Greater China, Japan, Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam, Brunei, the US, the UK, Europe, and other Southeast Asia/Asia-Pacific and other international jurisdictions keen to benefit from a myriad of business, investment and commercial relations (including business/joint venture establishment and shareholder relations, venture capital transactions, listing on public exchanges and beyond, and distressed restructuring), and facilitate relevant regulatory compliance as these business endeavours flourish. He is adept at managing cross-border and transnational projects, with an effective ability to work alongside contemporaries and professionals from any jurisdiction, taking matters from pre-transaction stages down to closing, completion and sometimes, post-deal integration and organisation. This ability in part is honed from his good fortune as a young lawyer where he had participated in various projects requiring managing extensive international relationships. Where requested, Kennedy has, over and above merely functioning as legal advisor, concurrently assembled and managed professionals comprising financial, tax, IT and other advisors required to move a commercial matter forward as one team.

Armed with requisite social and cultural awareness, solid knowledge, a keen eye for technical detail and an open mind, Kennedy has a natural resourcefulness and an unwavering determination to add value, regardless of business industry, jurisdiction, or geographical forum. Stakeholders have entrusted him to advise on deal negotiations and commercial strategy, and overall project management (including forming a team of professionals for transactions) in addition to legal documentation, stemming from his overall practice, experience as an academic and teaching staff with the Singapore Bar Examinations and Singapore Institute of Legal Education for legal negotiations, practical legal skills and for M&A/Joint Ventures, and from his training as an accredited mediator.

Kennedy has acted for and negotiated on behalf of and provided strategic direction and advice to in the course of his work, and his notable clients include Singapore and international government/regulatory bodies, companies listed in Singapore, Hong Kong, the PRC (including PRC state-owned enterprises), and NASDAQ, and multi-national companies.

After graduating from the National University of Singapore with honours, Kennedy trained in and practised at a “big-four” Singapore law firm and thereafter at a large leading US firm. He’s had the privilege of being seconded to Hong Kong, Myanmar, Indonesia and the PRC. Drawing from collective past, present and ongoing cumulative experience and exposure, coupled with relevant conventional and unconventional wisdom, Kennedy is a complete lawyer who brings to the table consistent and practical, client-centric solutions to adequately and fruitfully address legal and commercial realities, generating strategies that go beyond merely legal aspects and that which accurately anticipate commercial implications. He is a provider of solutions, an all-round problem solver who takes ownership and personal responsibility in recognising and anticipating clients’ needs, and a go-to before concretizing any business or commercial endeavour.
