Janice is a member of the firm’s International Arbitration team. Prior to joining Harry Elias Partnership, she worked with the Singapore International Arbitration Centre where, among others, she was responsible for the administration and management of arbitrations conducted under the SIAC Rules and the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. She also worked with the SIAC Court of Arbitration on the appointment of arbitrators (including Emergency Arbitrators) and applications for expedited procedure, joinder and consolidation.

Previously, Janice worked as a dispute resolution associate in a top-tier Philippine law firm, where she represented multinational clients in complex commercial and public interest disputes. She has also clerked for the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, and has acted in an advisory capacity to the Philippine government on the conduct of anti-corruption investigations.

Recent arbitration experience includes advising:

  • Swiss and Singaporean parties in an ICC commercial arbitration arising from a share purchase agreement
  • a global design and engineering company in an anticipated HKIAC construction arbitration
  • Singaporean parties in an SIAC arbitration over disputes arising from a construction consortium agreement

Janice received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Philippines, where she represented the university in the Philip C Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and the Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition. She subsequently obtained her LL.M. degree in Public International Law from Queen Mary University of London. She is admitted as an attorney-at-law in the Philippines and the State of New York, and as a solicitor in the Senior Courts of England & Wales.

Janice serves on the editorial board of the Kluwer Arbitration Blog as an Assistant Editor. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators, and the Asian Society of International Law.
