Marcus is a Senior Associate in the Litigation and Dispute Management Practice Group. He has experience in a broad range of matters including contractual claims, shareholder disputes, international arbitration and mediation, and criminal matters including financial crimes.

His recent experience includes:

  • Acting for International Air Transport Association (IATA) at proceedings held in the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC);
  • Acting for a group of beneficiaries of a settlement trust set up in 1933 to determine the proper construction of the settlement clauses;
  • Acting for a company in a Criminal Motion for the release of the company’s bank accounts which were seized pursuant to provisions under the Criminal Procedure Code;
  • Acting for the Law Society of Singapore in disciplinary tribunal proceedings against two senior lawyers;
  • Making legal representations on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of a listed company to the Singapore Exchange Regulation (SGX RegCo) for breaches of the listing rules;
  • Conducting an internal audit for a Malaysian firm to ensure compliance with Section 17A of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009; and
  • Conducting internal investigations on behalf of a company into multiple cases of theft by employees.

Marcus also volunteers with the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme and the Community Legal Clinics.

Prior to his admission to the Bar, Marcus was formerly a Team Leader in the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) of the Singapore Police Force, specialising in investment fraud cases. He received various awards including the CAD Director Award and Commissioner of Police’s Commendation (Individual).

Marcus is the Legal Advisor to Nanyang Pho Leng Hui Kuan 南洋普宁会馆 where he regularly advises on a wide range of matters.

Marcus is also an examiner with the Ministry of Home Affairs for Senior Officer Trainees and Officer Cadet Trainees of the Singapore Police Force. He also lectures on the Criminal Procedure Code and Evidence Act in the Home Team Basic Investigation Course.

Marcus read law at the National University of Singapore where he graduated with Second Class (Upper) Honours. He also holds a double degree in Economics and Business Management (Summa Cum Laude) from the Singapore Management University.
