Francis is a Partner in the Firm’s Civil and Commercial Litigation Practice Group and is also Head of the Arbitration Practice Group.

His main areas of practice include advising clients on all forms of dispute resolution including litigation, mediation, arbitration and negotiated commercial settlements with particular emphasis on management of risks and business processes.  He has also participated in foreign courts, providing specialist views and advice on aspects of Singapore law. 

Some of his notable cases include having successfully argued for an implied term of fitness for purpose to be read into a contract and for the Singapore Court of Appeal to apply the Common Law on Bailment to impose liability on the other party and having successfully acted for a developer in an en-bloc sale to evict a trespasser where the Singapore High Court, in a landmark decision, reviewed and clarified the applicable law. 

Francis is a Fellow with the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and also an accredited principal mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre. He previously served as the In-House Legal Counsel for the Singapore Sports Council.

Francis was awarded with top distinction in the B.A Mallal Mooting Competition in 1987.  He was called to the Singapore Bar in 1991 and is a Notary Public and a Commissioner for Oaths.
