Harry Elias Partnership LLP officially launched its presence in Brunei Darussalam yesterday in collaboration with local Bruneian lawyer Ms Nani Ismi at Raddison Hotel officiated by Dato Paduka Hj Ali bin Hj Apong, Deputy Minister, Prime Minister’s Office.

HEP Law Office is the first Singapore-linked law firm to be set up in Brunei in tandem with Singapore and Brunei’s efforts to build on the excellent ties between both countries and to ensure that the close and unique partnership between Singapore and Brunei continues into the future.

“We therefore foresee more cooperation both politically and economically to higher and greater levels.  As both countries grow in stature, so will opportunities for greater collaborations in the legal landscape” said Philip Fong, Managing Partner of Harry Elias Partnership LLP in his opening address at the launch.

HEP Law Office in Brunei will bring particular expertise in the areas of Construction Engineering & Infrastructure Projects, Oil & Gas, Syariah law and Civil & Commercial Litigation in general.

In the short time since HEP Law Office was formed last year, it now advises and represents several large government linked companies in Brunei.

“Brunei needs committed lawyers from overseas who believe in win-win arrangements that benefit Brunei significantly and meaningfully in the long run. It is important for local Brunei lawyers to work closely side by side with foreign lawyers in order to learn and adopt legal expertise on a faster and more substantial scale. As such, I welcome the commitment of Harry Elias Partnership to help build up the local legal industry.” Yang Mulia Dato said in his keynote address.
